LIVESTREAM: Blue Christmas
Blue Christmas (sometimes called Longest Night) Services are held all around the world. Here in the Northern Hemisphere, the service is held each year on or around December 21, because it is the winter solstice (which is the longest night of the year) and very close to Christmas. Given the cultural importance placed on contemporary Christmas celebrations (both secular and religious), as people of faith, it is good to pause to recognize that not everyone is “merry and bright” this time of year, and that is okay. In fact, it is appropriate. The weary and wounded world we live in provides ample reasons for heartache, sorrow, grief, and pain. Many Christians find hope and healing each year, when the world is at its darkest, by pausing to remember that God’s light comes in the darkness
